MD - Rhode River - Carrs Wharf - 2006/12/23 - 9.6 miles

A Christmas Eve eve paddle in continued warm weather yields a simple afternoon paddle in a remarkably undeveloped creek in the heart of Anne Arundel County.

Twas three days before Chrismas
And all through the land
Kayakers were emailing
Seeking a plan.

On the world wide web
there was so much chatter
Where we were to go
really did not matter

The dry suits were hung
by the paddles with care
hoping that soon
they'd be ready to wear.

Up on the roofs
With Thules so tight
Bright little kayaks
tied on just right

Down to the water
Off on the sand
Five happy people
Made up this band

On Gina On Lisa
On Julio and Hank
Ted in his Necky
brought up the flank

Across the Rhode River
And up in the marsh
A warm winter day
Not very harsh

The swans were a'swimming
On a cloudless day
A typical scene
For Chesapeake Bay

The sun started down
to bring on the night
To shore we returned
feeling so right

Then Rick and his dogs
his arm starting to mend
brought another day
To a happy end

Presents were exchanged
As we all took flight
Merry Christmas to all
and to all a good night.
