From KayakTraining.com

KayakTraining.com offers a wide range of sea kayak training courses and guided trips. We have courses for the beginner as well as the advanced paddler. Our courses are designed to help beginners establish a base set of skills; intermediate paddlers to gain confidence in their expanding skill set; and the advanced kayaker to immerse themselves in perfecting various kayaking techniques and advanced rescues.

Our guided tour options include day trips, overnight excursions, and full expeditions. And of course, we happily offer kayak training as part of the trip at no additional charge. A guided tour is a great alternative for those who want to learn at a more leisurely pace and enjoy taking in the sights while you learn.

Classes are available in groups or by private lessons. Training provided by ACA Certified Instructors is available in the Chesapeake Bay area throughout the year and in the Cape Cod area during summer months.

Steve Rohrs (right in picture) has been kayaking for over a decade. And with thousands of miles of kayaking behind him, to say he is just an avid kayaker would be an understatement. His goals are to paddle the tidal coastline of the Chesapeake Bay, some 8000 miles and to circumnavigate all of Cape Cod. His emphasis on safety lead him to become an ACA Certified Open Water instructor as did his desire to promote the sport by training others.

Steve splits his summers between Maryland and Cape Cod doing kayak training for various outfitters at both locations. The rest of the year you can find him paddling on the bay come rain, snow or shine.

His recent extended kayak trips have taken him to Nantucket, the Sanibel Islands in Flordia, the Sea of Cortez in Baja, Mexico, the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia and the Suwannee River in Florida.

Steve's current kayak of choice is the 18 foot Falcon-18 by Eddyline and he prefers to power it with a traditional Greenland styl

Julio Perez (left in picture) has been sea kayaking since 1994. He began as many of us have by trying whitewater canoes, kayaks and rafting over the years. He eventually found his passion for seakayaking when he lived on the Magothy River. A sea kayak became his passport to experiencing the Chesapeake Bay in the most intimate manner imaginable. The kayak allowed him to travel the bay and its estuaries and see their various ecosystems close up. He brings an appreciation of nature and knowledge of the local flora and fauna as well as an enthusiasm for sharing these and his kayaking skills. Julio was born in Cuba and came to the U.S. in 1963, during the Cuban Missile crisis. He has worked as a Physician Assistant in family medicine, neurology and rehabilitation, research and respiratory/ intensive care for over 20 years. He is an ACA certified open water kayaking instructor and has traveled over 1000 miles of the Chesapeake's coastline.
